Kratom Experiment
May. 20th, 2013 03:19 pmThis one's going to be even more TMI than usual. It will involve my reproductive organs. You've been warned.
Took about a half-teaspoon of the milder kratom and a half-teaspoon of the stronger in my smoothie. I say "about" because I spilled a lot of the smoothie and had to guess at how much of the kratom was in a puddle on the kitchen floor.
Me, after cleaning up: Okay, I'm putting these dishtowels in the laundry because they're covered with drugs.
Mom: That's a new experience for them.
I'm not sure it had any effect at all this morning. There was definitely no "high," which is not a big deal, but I also didn't feel the energy/motivation boost, which is. This could be because I've developed a tolerance, because I took Benadryl instead of Trazodone to get to sleep last night, because of the smoothie accident, or some combination of the three.
I went out and did some yard work, then came in totally exhausted and took a nap. I still feel tired.
I think I'm going to take a break for a few days, at least until my next order shows up. Four mornings in a row seems like a little much, from what I've read. In addition, the side effects have made themselves known and are really bothering me.
These side effects are constipation and anorgasmia. So, screw that. The latter was the final straw with Prozac; if it's going to keep being a problem with kratom, I at the very least can't use it daily.
On the plus side, I think four days is long enough to say that kratom does help with Lexapro's side effects. My vision problems are a lot milder, particularly in the first four or five hours after I take it. I've actually been thinking of asking my doctor about temporarily switching back to the Effexor next time I go in. If it also helps with the jitters and breathing problems I get from that, I might be able to go back to the one antidepressant that's actually worked.
On the other hand, if I've genuinely developed a tolerance this quickly, it may not work for long enough to be useful.
Anyway, on my break I'm going to start taking magnesium supplements, which apparently help prevent tolerance buildup and withdrawal symptoms. This time I ordered samples of four different kinds of kratom, because rotating them out is also supposed to help.
