Look, I have read all of the shounen manga, and I know how this works. If there’s a whole issue focused around the importance of a particular relationship to a given protagonist, one half of it is going to die, and the other half is going to get a despair-induced character re-design and engage in self-destructive behavior. I don’t make the rules, but I will enforce them.
