Steven Universe question

for people who are caught up. (Probable spoiler for anyone else, I guess? I'm up to episode 40, though I've been thinking this since So Many Birthdays.)

Is my assumption that Steven's in at least his late teens, chronologically, a reasonable one? Or am I overlooking something obvious in the stuff I've already seen?

I've never assumed he was anything other than ten-ish, although Too Many Birthdays makes it clear enough that his chronological age and apparent biological age don't necessarily need to match any more than he particularly needs to wear a shirt if he doesn't want.

I mean, he's clearly a little kid in terms of mental/emotional/whatever development, at least in the sense in which that exists in this show. Amethyst also seems to have stayed about eight years old until Shit Went Down.

...We should probably hope I'm wrong, given that if I were doing the show, the next big existential revelation would be that he'd had his memory reset due to some sort of traumatic failure to mature "right" the first time through, like Rod McBan.

I'm a terrible person, by the way.
