I hadn't played human character in Warcraft since Cataclysm came out.

So I wasn't aware of this unpleasant plotline in Westfall where you're solving a murder, which is about how homeless refugees are dirty criminals whom you should not try to help. It's cool if they're like, space aliens who crashed their ship, I guess, but not if they're human? There are starving children who've been reduced to robbing corpses, but they're evil children so you shouldn't worry about them. One of the fetchquests is a "funny" one which involves gathering hair and dirt for people to eat, while your bags are full of coyote meat and eggs from all the coyotes and birds you've been killing down the road.

I don't know about this game sometimes. At least they weren't hit by a hurricane.

(I would say, "at least they aren't all black," but I think the people who program these scenarios tend to forget they've even got dark skin colors available. Except when the black dwarves are being evil, which they always are.

And really, why can't you play as a Dark Iron dwarf? Their queen is 1/3 in charge of the dwarves at this point! The heir to Ironforge is half Dark Iron! And he's tiny and cute and in a cradle next to his mean mommy in the throne room, where he has to watch her get murdered over and over by Horde raids. Who could fail to sympathize with Fenran? His countrymen and -women need to be made playable to protect him.)

Really? Still not sad I never went back to WoW.

I've always felt that WoW tends to disrespect the Alliance because the majority of players do. The Horde always felt like it was treated much more sympathetically. I don't know how it is now because I only played when WoW first came out, so the Draenei and the Worgen are a huge dark mystery, but that was my impression from back then.

I've honestly never seen a lot of difference; the plotlines for both mostly range from boring to irritating early on. Thrall was definitely the most sympathetic of the race leaders, when that was his job, but it didn't affect much given that 98% of the time he was sitting in a chair in Orgrimmar, and you were somewhere else doing meaningless kill-and-fetch quests.

Basically I think they need to hire some actual writers, who can write, and just put them in fucking charge of everything for a while. They could hire a few cinematographers while they're at it.

The only exception to my general disdain for the game's plotting is the first ten levels of the Worgen content, which I just played through for the first time today. And I am astonished that Blizzard actually made me care about what was going on for a couple hours. I've stopped now, though. Done caring! I killed two (2) rebellious lords in aid of nebulous goals, and was given a top hat for my pains.
