I'm a little over halfway through, and I think I may prefer the Sharon Shinn version with the cyborgs. I keep wishing Rochester would undergo explosive decompression.
Surprisingly, despite all of the problems I had with it, and there were so, so, so many, I liked Jane Eyre...and this makes me feel sorta bad about myself, because really, I shouldn't, but I did like Jane's narrative voice a lot, even all of the self-righteous martyr parts.
It is not a book you need to feel bad about liking! I mean, there are many excellent reasons that it is a classic. I am just not very tolerant of Rochester-like characters.
