I don't know why Poofus And Failant feels the need to follow me into the bathroom every single time. He should know by now that I both 1) always come back out and 2) do not have food in there.

Nefer follow me in because she has learned--and now insists--that if she stands next to the wall dividing the tub from the toilet, she gets petted. Also, in the morning she follows both me and Toby in, and meows until we open the shower door and let her lick water off the floor.

Sora follows me in because he does not understand the concept of a closed door, and it is worrisome to him, so he opens the door, checks to make sure everything is as it was five seconds ago, then leaves, leaving the door wide open right when you are in no position to get to it and close it. (Toby and I have agreed to approach an open bathroom door with caution and verbal warnings, if we do not know 100% where the other person is at the moment.)

Sora is still working on object permanence, Nefer is not.

Animals always prefer stupid water sources like flowerpots and the floor to their bowls. This is a bad form of rebellion.

Yeah. I've seen Nefer drink water from a humidifier reservoir that we left open on the floor and forgot about putting away, so it had a thick layer of dust and cat hair on the top. Not to mention the dead fly she ingested while drinking from a glass of water I'd left at my bedside for a couple of days.

But the fountain that's constantly running, and which has UV light that theoretically destroys bacteria so it remains fresh? Not a drop.
