I don't really get the attractiveness of Toriyama characters, either. They're not really designed for it, and he's always drawing people doing that weird sneery face. I guess it helps with Chrono Trigger that they're sprites? People just redraw them to look like whatever.

This is not nearly the worst thing I found while googling for "Chrono Trigger" in Japanese. It's not even the worst Frog/Magus thing I found.
