I'm sorry but while I've read both I by far prefer Beauty (and GreatHeart, of course). I agree that the end-twist in the fate of the Beast in Rose Daughter should have been in Beauty, too, to make it perfect.

I noticed that the voting took a turn in favor of Rose Daughter after I made that edit. I should hire myself out to campaigns as a push-polling consultant: "Well, the most effective way to alter opinion is to say you'll fight the repondent. Let's see your stance, Congressman."

To clarify:

I think Rose Daughter has a better ending, and it is a more mature, polished book. But Beauty was the book I imprinted on as a kid, and in some ways I think it's more heartfelt, so I think I will always love it a bit more, even though my brain thinks Rose Daughter is a better book.
