Why did I never know about Simoun before?

It is an anime about lesbian fighter pilots. In failing to alert me to this show's existence, internet, you have been derelict in your primary duty.

It's kind of a have-its-cake-and-eat-it-too show, in that it wants to be both 1) full of cheesecake and air battles and 2) a solemn meditation on gender and war. But I am nonetheless enjoying it as of episode 5.
