And I Have Just Picked You Up From The Vet.

1) Have a huge open wound on your neck where the vet drained an abscess. Also, a pathetic expression.

2) Run outside the moment I get the carrier open.

3) Stay outside even when it starts pouring rain, running away in a panic when I open the door to let you in.

4) Eventually come in and let me pet you for a second, leaving me with the sinking knowledge that I still have to get antibiotics down your throat later.

Why does the cat have an abscess? Do all the pets have dread diseases?

It's the sort of information I keep in a little notebook in my bag just in case.

He either has an abscess because he's allergic to fleas and scratched so much he got infected, or because someone bit him and it got infected. If someone bit him I think it was a squirrel, as he has been very unhappy about the presence of some squirrels in the yard.

At present your dog and the two youngest cats are neither sick nor injured. All the others have been to the vet at least once within the last five weeks.

Did you take receipt of the pumpkin bread? Was it edible? Or did your villainous cohorts devour it all before you could study the issue?

Oh poor kitty!

Did they give you a pill gun? I had to use a gun to shoot the pills down my cat's throat, which....was hilarious but also horrible.

Fortunately his antibiotics are liquid, and he's being good about taking them so far. With other two sick cats, a pill gun would actually probably help - I may order one...

The pumpkin bread is awesome. It has given universal satisfaction. My computer science teacher was appreciative and my former roommate, who is currently dead of the plague, reanimated long enough to tell me she loved you.
