If

1) The scrapped "Dark Lord Jar-Jar" reveal was supposed to "mirror" the Jedi Master Yoda reveal, and

2) Each installment of Star Wars was supposed to include a similar plot-mirror, then

3) The old R2-and-Chewbacca: Rebel Masterminds theory is pretty much confirmed.

(They really did dump the EU just to save Chewbacca!)
