I presume you're already taking some kind of anti-inflammatory/pain reliever?
Mild heat is also supposed to be good for earaches: warm compresses (like a wrung-out washcloth) or a heating pad. Or those microwavable things that are like cold packs, except you can heat them up. Oh - or a "rice sock"!
(In fact, the first thing I thought when I saw your post was "Maybe if you heated the honey." But no. Really.)
No, I am 100% confident that my pouring-honey-in-your-ears treatment is a medical advance that the world's been waiting for. I've already put in a patent application. I just hope the ear-candling people didn't get there before me.
(Seriously, they don't honestly hurt enough for it to be worth messing with them.)
Heh. Didn't really think you were going to do it, but I did worry that your ears were hurting and that you might need suggestions. Knee-jerk motherhood strikes again!
Have you tried a Hot Toddy? I usually make mine w/o the traditional alcohol...My mum makes it like this;
Get a mug, and mix in it: honey (2 big spoons ish) lemon juice (1-2 tsp ish) fill rest of mug with boiling water stir wait til cool enough not to burn tongue, drink
the honey/lemon/water ratio can be changed to your preference
I've been going with the drinking-tea-constantly method, with a spoonful of honey with each cup. I'm not a very good Kentuckian, so I don't ordinarily approve of sweetening tea, but it does seem to help.
