Honey is surprisingly effective for sore throats.

Maybe I will also try pouring it in my ears.

I presume you're already taking some kind of anti-inflammatory/pain reliever?

Mild heat is also supposed to be good for earaches: warm compresses (like a wrung-out washcloth) or a heating pad. Or those microwavable things that are like cold packs, except you can heat them up. Oh - or a "rice sock"!

(In fact, the first thing I thought when I saw your post was "Maybe if you heated the honey." But no. Really.)

Have you tried a Hot Toddy? I usually make mine w/o the traditional alcohol...My mum makes it like this;

Get a mug, and mix in it:
honey (2 big spoons ish)
lemon juice (1-2 tsp ish)
fill rest of mug with boiling water
stir
wait til cool enough not to burn tongue, drink

the honey/lemon/water ratio can be changed to your preference
