He's not the sort of cat who allows you to do that, unfortunately - he tore my hand up pretty bad today. And the problem's not actually that they're too long, it's that the old outer layers of claw-stuff don't come off if the cat's not using its claws, so they get ingrown.
I'd need to sit there and pick away at the sides of his claws with my fingernails if I wanted to deal with that manually, which would lead quickly to my demise, judging by today's results.
